Welcome to Dynomec - Dynamometer

Dynomec dynamometer is affordable, cheap and accurate measuring system for all automotive testing requirements. We also manufacture dynamometers and can provide with different dynos depending on testing requirements.First version of our dynamometer was launched in the year 1995.Our dynamometer software is also suitable for Do-It-Yourself Dynamometers. From us you can get dynamometer to your workshop, garage or maybe for motorcycle club. For DIY man's - Build a dynamometer - from us you can get manufacturing drawings and support for DIY manufacturing.

We offer dynamometers of various types. You can buy dynamometer of any type from us any time by calling us on the given phone number. Here is the description of our dynamometers.

B1 is basic dynamometer for measuring power and torque output produced by an engine. The various components and specifications of the B1 dynamometer are:

  • B1 dynamometer software
  • B1 DAQ card (one digital input for flywheel sensor, flywheel sensor is provided by Dynomec)
  • B1 dynamometer frame (drawings available for DIY)
  • Power / torque measurement
  • Wide band lambda / normal lambda sensor option
  • SAE J1349 standard weather correction factor
  • Our B1 dynamometer can be used with A1 DAQ (data acquisition card) card. Software logs all A1 8 analog channels and saves data to disk on Excel format.

B1 software can also be used with A1 hardware (data acquisition card).

A1 is more advanced dynamometer for measuring power and torque output produced by an engine. The various components and specifications of our A1 dynamometer are:

  • 5 digital channels (one for flywheel sensor, flywheel sensor is provided by Dynomec)
  • 8 analog sensors, you can connect for an example lambda, gas, temperature etc. sensors to card
  • Our A1 dynamometer DAQ card could be used also as general measuring data acquisition card. Values could be read with Excel afterwards
  • Power / torque measurement
  • Wide band lambda / normal lambda sensor option (click on picture)
  • 8 pieces analog channels (temperature, exhaust gas etc. sensors)
  • SAE J1349 standard weather correction factor
  • RPM pick-up
  • Our B1 dynamometer software can be used with A1 hardware DAQ (data acquisition card) card. Software logs all A1 8 analog channels and saves data to disk on Excel format.1 dynamometer frame (drawings available for DIY)

Please Note: Accuracy for our dynamometers is under 0.1 horsepower. Accuracy is theoretically tested by simulating dynamometer pulses. Be aware, that dynamometers, dynos, dyno operators, conditions and bikes can vary 3-8 hp. Dynos systems seem complicated but once you understand the basics it all becomes clear. A dynamometer is basically just a measuring tool, in the same way as voltmeters, scales or speedometers are.

The test procedure is simple:

  • Start the engine
  • Warm to operating temperature
  • Accelerate from near idle through the power band to max rpm
  • Close the throttle, and apply the brake to slow the flywheel

During the acceleration of the engine, a computerized data acquisition system is monitoring the speed of the dyno flywheel. After shutting off the engine the data collected by the computer is analysed and processed to produce the appropriate information. The computer "knows" the weight of the flywheel and calculates horsepower and torque values based on the amount of time it took to accelerate the flywheel from start to finish and moment to moment.

Inertia dynamometer:

Dynomec's inertia dynamometer contains a drum with known weight and size. With the help of RPM range this drum can be easily accelerated. The speed of acceleration and mass of the drum helps a computer to calculate the horsepower. One thing to make sure is that there will be nothing to measure unless the engine is accelerating.Nothing to measure means no constant RPM will be running while adjustments are made. Our Inertia dynamometer is much simpler and need essentially no calibration as a known quantity, the drum, is simply accelerated by the vehicle. When you know how fast the drum was accelerated, you know how much torque was required and you calculate horsepower. Remember, horsepower is calculated, not measured. You measure torque.

The inertia dyno consists of front frame, rear frame, front wheel carriage.Rear frame includes large high inertia flywheel. Flywheel could be manufactured of steel drum, pipe or bar.Front farme includes stand and front wheel carriage to adjust different bike lengths.

Eddy Current brake dynamometer:

Dynomec dynamometer can also provide with two types of chassis dynamometers which are inertia chassis dynamometer and eddy current brake(retarder, brake) chassis dynamometer.Dynomec's Inertia dynamometer can be used for performance tuning, trouble shooting engine problems, testing engines, fuel injection adjustments etc.The engines involved are Normal 2-stroke and 4-stroke combustion engines but mostly the inertia dynamometer is for performance tuning engines, race engines, road racing engines, drag racing engines and street racing engines.

Dynomec's Eddy current brake dynamometer is also used for same purpose as inertia dynamometer but eddy current dyno is better for performance tuning, because you can make load for engine, inertia type is more for measuring output of an engine.Dynomec inertia dynamometer measures the speed of an object, spun by the wheels of a vehicle, to come up with horsepower and torque numbers. On the other hand the eddy current brake dynamometer measures the horsepower and torque of a vehicle by applying varied levels of resistance to the drive line.

Comparing dynamometers runs on different days requires careful consideration of and adjustment for weather conditions. Air density and temperature can have a dramatic effect on engine output.

Vehicle comparisons made on different dynamometers may be more accurate on inertia dynamometers since calibration is not required.
